Yikes! It's Craft Fair season again...that means the holidays are upon us! Please come and visit the Manoa Jaycees Craft Fair on the campus of Manoa Elementary School, Saturday, October 15th from 8:30am to 2pm. There will be crafts-of course, gift items, jewelry, clothing, bags, food, waffle-style hot dogs (YUM!), face painting & more! We'll have hand-stamped items, samples, retired stamp sets and a make-and- take! Hope to see you there!

October Stamp-A-Stack on Thursday, October 27th from 7 to 9pm. Come and make 8 cards including envelopes for $12. FREE with a $35 order.Please RSVP by Wednesday, October 19th. Space is limited.

A Hello Kitty Birthday...

Yikes! Has it been that long since my last post?! Oh my! How time flies!

I wanted to share a couple of photos from Leah's 7th Birthday... I made her a Hello Kitty birthday cake and Mani/Pedi Caddies (want to think of a better name...but for now this will have to do....I found a version online--can't remember the site. Will post it when I find it again)

It's hard to believe our "baby" is 7 years old... I can't imagine how that can possibly be when I don't feel a day older...ha, ha. Anyway, here's the photos...

Leah requested I make her a cake...even though cupcakes were provided... ;)

She said she likes my frosting.

It was a Hello Kitty/mini manicure party at Cupcake Boutique at Ward Warehouse. They are so wonderful! Excellent to plan parties with! The girls enjoyed pizza and pog, made beaded bracelets and had mini manicures. Then a special visit from Hello Kitty herself and a photo session! Thank you ladies!

I found some cute things to put in the caddies. The purple bottle is nail polish remover. I wanted pink, but they didn't have enough at the store. In the front pocket is a little box of Hello Kitty "fake nails", a Hello Kitty emery board, Hello Kitty band aids, Hello Kitty nail polish, Hello Kitty Marshmallow candy. In the back pocket a Hello Kitty plush key chain with a little lip gloss attached, and a Hello Kitty lip balm. I also found some cute Hello Kitty foam toe separators, but I couldn't find enough for all the caddies.

I used Stampin' Up Melon Mambo card stock, Pretty in Pink Designer Series Paper and White Satin Ribbon. The Melon Mambo retired polka dot ribbon would have been cute! I also used the 1" circle punch.

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2011! As I hear the popping fireworks ringing in the new year--what will probably be a very big send off as fireworks will be limited in Hawaii from now on--it's time to reflect, resolve and renew...

This year seems to have flown by! It was a memorable one! New Year's day was spent with the "N" family as is a family tradition... Wonderful times reminiscing and catching up as well as enjoying ono-licious food! :)

In February, DH spent two and a half weeks in Thailand on a humanitarian mission with the Air Force Reserve. A heart-warming experience.

The girls and I headed to Anaheim in March with the school dance team. The team did well in the competition(s) and we had a fun time!--Too bad DH couldn't join us.

It was Bon Voyage in April as DH and I set sail on the Stampin' Up! Southern Caribbean Incentive Cruise that I earned last year! It was like a second honeymoon as we celebrated our 15th Anniversary! What an experience! Stampin' Up! really takes great care of us! Everything was just perfect! :) I'm working hard to earn this year's incentive trip--DisneyWorld! I would love to take the girls!

There were numerous school activities to keep us busy and of course stamping! :) This summer both girls had exceptional summer classes that they really enjoyed! Summer school sure is different from when I was little!

Before we knew it it was back to school...DD1 in 3rd grade and DD2 in 1st. They sure are growing up fast! This fall was busy with more school activities, violin, dance and of course, Stampin' Up! :)

Our Pacific Stampers group had Stamp Camps and activities almost every other month.

It's so nice to see familiar faces and meet new friends too! Our Stampin' Smile group has grown and we've been enjoying our monthly "meetings". I am always amazed at how talented everyone is.

I look forward to our get togethers and sharing ideas--ooo-ing and awe-ing at the newest,

latest, cutest projects! It's so much fun! And stampers are awesome people!

The holidays crept up on me! I thought I started ahead of the game and yikes! Here they are--come and gone! Oh my...I really have to map out everything better next year!

We had a wonderful Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas--with family and friends. If only I had a little more time to finish all the stamping/crafting I wanted to do.

And I still have to "finish" cleaning/organizing my Stamp Room. Eeek! I've been saying that for a very long time now! Recently, I've been inspired by a super stamper...she creates the most awesome projects and has a simple small stamp space. Up to now I've been thinking, if only I had more room like some of the fabulous stamp "rooms" I've seen... Some are so much more than just "rooms". But after I've seen her "room", I've decided that I can be creative with a small efficient organized space. SO, I'm going to purge, purge, purge! And find some great new homes for some great things. :)

Anyway, Thank You for visiting and for your support! I will blog more regularly this year! And I will finish my room. And I will earn DisneyWorld! :)

Fishing on the Fourth

On a beautiful sunny 4th of July, we headed out to Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens in Kaneohe for some fishing. The girls had been asking to go fishing for quite some time. Equipped with their rods and reels, bread for the fish, snacks and drinks for themselves, hats, shoes and sunscreen they were ready to catch some fish!

With the help of Knud Lindgard, a writer for Hawaii Fishing News who volunteers at Hoomaluhia and helps kids (and parents) catch fish, we were able to increase our catching from 3 fish in an hour to "too many to count" in the remaining time we were there. As long as the bread stayed on the hook, it was almost a guaranteed catch. And the fact that the fish are a terrific "Tangerine Tango" color made it even more fun! ("Tangerine Tango", one of Stampin' Up!'s new Core Colors!) *smile*

It was a great day for fishin' and a great family day. I'm sure we'll be heading out to Hoomaluhia again soon.

Tea for Two...

Hello! Happy July!

In a previous post I shared a Tea Bag Box that MaryAnn showed us. Diane (Hi Diane!) asked for the directions, so I thought I'd share them here too. So if any of you would like to make this Tea Bag Box, here you go! :)

Box Cover

1. Score 4-3/4” x 5-1/4” card stock or DSP at 1” on all sides. Use bone folder to crease well. Cut along solid lines as shown in Diagram A. Cutting a slight “V” shape will alleviate “bulk” when assembling box cover. (Diagram not to scale) Use Sticky Strip to assemble box cover.

2. Score 6” x 12” cardstock at 2-5/8”, 5-3/4”, 8-3/8” and 11-1/2” along 12” edge. Score at 2” along one 6” edge. Use bone folder to crease well. Cut along solid lines as shown in Diagram B. “V”s shown in diagram are a little wide. They don’t have to be that wide.

3. Using Paper Cutter or Hobby Blade cut out rectangle from “second to the last panel” as shown in Diagram C. Rectangle is 1/4” from bottom edge and 1/4” from each of the side creases and 1” high. Use 3/4” circle punch to cut out semi circle.

4. Assemble box with Sticky Strip. First adhere sides together then close the bottom flaps to complete box. Save “front” bottom panel for last. “Front” panel is the one with the cut out hole. This just gives the box a nice finish.

Sunny Stampin' Group Projects

Hello! I wanted to share some great projects shared at our Stampin' Smile group meeting last night. There were some great swaps and MaryAnn taught us how to make some really neat things that I will surely make again in the future! Thanks, Mary Ann!

Here's Heid's flip-flop card. I'm really not sure if that's the "official" name, but that's what it does, so that's what I'm calling it... :)

Reina made this card perfect for Father's Day using the spotlight technique. There's even a slot to put a gift card from Dad's favorite place!

Here's mine, I cased it from the new catalog...It uses the new "Petal Prints" stamp set that was part of our pillow gift while on the Caribbean Cruise! Stampin' Up! sure knows how to spoil us!

And here is a cute holder that MaryAnn taught us how to make. It can be used to hold note paper, cards, Post-Its...It's very versatile as it can be decorated for any theme. She also made a collection of cards to put in it using the Level I Hostess Set "It's the Thought". Receive this set FREE when you host a workshop of $150 or more. Here's the holder:

And here are close up photos of the cards...very simple and clean. These cards were colored with the Aqua Painter and re-inkers and dusted with a little bit of dazzling diamonds for that perfect touch!

We also used the watercolor technique to make pansies that we used as a focal point for our Fancy Favor Box and a beautiful flower to adorn a elegant card!

MaryAnn also taught us how to make this tea bag holder/dispenser made with the new Designer Series Paper Greenhouse Gala. As a demonstrator, we are able to order certain sneak peek items...It's wonderful! :) Do you know how much more onolicious ('ono' is yummy in Hawaiian) your tea will taste coming from such a beautiful dispenser? Unless you're like me and forever keep everything in tact as a "sample" in "The Collection". Hee, hee! Those of you who know what I'm talking about...Aren't we funny?! Oh, here's the photo... This box also uses our new Marina Mist 1/8" taffeta ribbon and Mini Vintage Tags.

Pacific Stampers Summer Mini Stamp Camp!

Wow! I had fun at our Summer Mini Stamp Camp! We had four great projects for our guests, a wonderful demonstration by Krista, door prizes, really neat silent auction items and raffle prizes. I have a few photos to share...

Here are the projects, first is a faux leather wallet created by Lorinne. This really looks like a leather wallet! The Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is perfect for this project!

Next is Naoko's flower bloom photo holder. Using Stampin' Up!'s dies and punches, Naoko created this very cute project perfect for a gift or to keep for yourself...

The next project was designed by Sonya. Very elegant notecards with matching envelopes are tucked in a folder with a personalized belly band. The flower was dyed to match using a reinker... Another great gift idea anyone would appreciate or something to make and use yourself!

And this is my project. Another piece to the Island Oasis ensemble. It is an abbreviated version of my May Craft Project Central project. A mini chalk board for notes.

And...Here is the very cute "Welcome" sign and matching favors created by Brenda. She is truly amazing!

It's been a while...

Oh my, time sure flies! I have a ton to share with you! Some really great projects have posted over at Craft Project Central since the last project I posted--I have some catching up to do. First, this super cute Teacher Appreciation Desk created and shared by Michele--get details and instructions at Craft Project Central.

Almost makes me want to be a teacher...ha, ha! I wouldn't last a day...I salute all teachers! Thank you for all you do! By the time I'm posting this, most children are already out of school...It's ok, you can get a head start on next year or make one for your child's summer school teacher(s). You could modify it and make one for just about any occasion. Thanks, Michelle!

The next project is an elegant wedding ensemble designed by Sonya.

Wow! I wish this was around when we got married! (Which by the way was 15 years ago this month on the 10th.) This ensemble looks even more elegant in real life! If you or someone you know is getting maarried, you will definitely want to check this out. Sonya makes all kinds of beautiful invitations!

Jacque created the next project, Tropical Party Stationery Set. Alas! Back to the "Real World"!

It's been a week since arriving back from a wonderful week Crusin' the Caribbean Stampin' Up! style! Getting back into the swing of things isn't easy after being spoiled from sunrise to sunset and then some! We really missed the girls and were happy to return. We had a fabulous time and met some great new friends while visiting with some "old" friends too.

From L to R: Dawn O. is a "new" friend, me, Barb and Kristyne--(I met Barb and Kristyne at Founder's Circle--along with a whole lot of other awesome ladies!) This is in the lobby of the Puerto Rico Sheraton Hotel. It is recently renovated and just beautiful!

Sunday, April 25th we set sail from Puerto Rico--spent all of Monday at sea and arrived in Barbados on Tuesday morning. Embarking was a new experience--of course it was since this was our first cruise... :p Everything went smoothly. It's quite impressive considering 3,000+ passengers were welcomed aboard over a period of several hours.

Kurt and I went exploring while waiting for our luggage to be delivered to our room. The ship was over 12 stories! The first floor is where the crew stays. The second through 9th was for the guests. There were restaurants, art galleries, a spa, a work out room, an ice skating rink, a casino, lots of shops, a mini golf course, a rock climbing wall, a roller blading rink, jogging track, basketball court and much more! Unbelievable! It is a city on the water! Here is a photo of the pool deck. The seasoned, knowledgeable cruisers hand carried their swim attire on to the ship and wasted no time in getting out to bask in the sun.

One of my favorite projects that we do is our recipe "scrapbook". We just had our Volume 4 class a few weeks ago and a record number of attendees! The food was awesome! There were "samples" of the recipes for everyone to taste--It was actually quite a spread--more like a feast! There are five of us that design four pages each for a total of twenty wonderful recipes and recipe scrapbook pages. And we had lots of extra help too! Thank you!

Honor Our Mothers

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I thought I would dedicate my April Craft Project Central Project to Moms. I am also doing a version of this project with some very cute and talented girl scouts coming up real soon. I'll have to take some photos of them working on their projects and share them with you! I know their moms will be so happy to receive a handmade gift from their daughters...I know I am. Mari already brought home a creatively and beautifully wrapped Mother's Day present that she made in art class--with a handmade card that is watercolored. I'm very happy with the card and the wrapping! What could possibly be all wrapped up? It's a good thing I'm away or I might not be able to wait til Mother's Day to open it! :)

Anyway, back to my project. Here is a photo of my Mother's Day Album in a Tin, The belly band is not only decorative, the fabric flower is actually a pin that Mom can wear, attach to her hand bag, headband... It's two gifts in one! :)

Well, the time has finally come...Kurt and I are here in Puerto Rico--after a couple of rather long but pleasant flights. I sure hope it comes out ok...Actually, if it does or doesn't, I may not know the difference and since I never had it before...I guess it really doesn't matter, huh? I'll let you know. We are going to have some "onolicious" food tomorrow! Probably the best thing about our Recipe book class...well, the book is pretty special too! New Color Collections!!

Oh my! Did you think I fell off the face of the earth?! Maybe so...I spent a week in Anaheim with our two girls and the Iolani Dance Team...Had a fabulous time...Tell you more about that later...Right now I just have to share a Stampin' Up! announcement with you! I am so excited to embrace this change and move forward with YOU on Stampin' Up!s exciting Color Renovation!

This is huge and it's WONDERFUL! All of these changes will take place in the new catalog beginning July 1st. This means you have plenty of time to stock up on your favorite colors that are leaving. This is soooooo exciting since color is a major ingredient in our ability to create and be creative! We also need to stay up-to-date with the trends in color to keep both our artwork and business fresh.

The new Color Collections are: Brights, Neutrals, Regals and Subtles. There will be 40 core colors (rather than our current 48 + neutrals). This is GREAT news as it means we will have more accessories and "things" to match these colors!

Where Oh Where Have I Been?

Aaaugh! I ("We"-Mari, Leah and I) have been extremely busy with Girl Scout cookies ever since they arrived last Thursday! I didn't realize how quickly time flies! I apologize for the delay! I really want to share this with you... If I haven't already called personally and/or e-mailed and if I did and you haven't signed up yet, please check this out! We are so lucky to have Bonnie Thurber as our guest speaker!!!

Now, getting back to Girl Scout Cookies...what was I thinking?! Two girls in two different troops both with the goal of "Priceless". All girls who sell 700+ boxes of cookies are recognized as "Priceless" and will be honored at a special event at the end of the cookie sale! The next level is "Hall of Fame" for selling 1000+ boxes. YIKES! Let's not even go there! (But then, is that really different from setting the Stampin' Up Cruise as a goal? hee, hee!) :)

I'm very proud of both girls...This is Mari's second year selling girl scout cookies and Leah's first. Mari jumped right back in and is doing a fantastic job! Leah is a trooper! She spent her 6th birthday selling cookies at two booth sales--a total of 8 hours! The only "complaint" Leah had was that she wanted to "do more". The Daisy girls took turns: one helped the customers gather the cookies and collected the money, calculating the change...while the other did the "bagging". All of the girls want to do the first job and were not too keen on the "bagging." Let's just say it was a nice "dilema" to have girls so eager to help! And they are so cute!!!

**"Plug" time - If you are in the area and have a sudden craving for some yummy girl scout cookies, the Daisies will be at Safeway Moanalua this Saturday from 9am to 1pm and the Brownies will be at Koko Marina Foodland from 1pm to 5pm. Then on Sunday, the Brownies will be at Longs Hawaii Kai from 9am to 1pm. Come on by! :) With Kurt still in Thailand, life has been quite busy here with school and school activities, cookies, the office... Gee whiz, I had a tick list a mile long of all things I was/am going to do before he returns...I've barely made a dent in it... Oh well, I can only do what I can do... The Daisies will be donating some of their cookie proceeds to the Humane Society and going to Chuck E. Cheese for a pizza party. The Brownies will be using their cookie proceeds to adopt a Malayan Sun Bear at the Honolulu Zoo and have some fun at Wet n' Wild Water Park. If you want any additional information--i.e. detailed descriptions about each cookie... please contact Mari or Leah at 542-1965. You can leave a message with their secretary/mom and they will call you back with everything you ever wanted to know about Girl Scout cookies. (It's actually kind of cute to hear...)

Whew! What a relief!

Well, we're all safe and sound after the Tsunami scare yesterday. Mari was so happy she was still able to attend her friend's slumber party last night. Priorities, you know! Feels like a whole day was lost. Leah and I had a nice Mommy/daughter evening--we ate little fundraiser pizzas (Thanks Naoko!) and drank root beer in little glasses. Leah insisted we toast everytime we filled them up. Hmmm...what has she been up to that we don't know about? And she hasn't even turned 6 yet! I made her "surprise ice cream" for dessert. That's when I pick the flavor, toppings, and add special surprise treats--last night it was Junior Mints--and she closes her eyes and is surprised by what she sees. Then we watched some movies and went to bed early--for me, late for her. It was a nice time. :)

For her kindergarten project, she brought home Mele Mouse. A stuffed mouse that comes in a "suitcase" with her journal. It's very cute...all the children take turns taking Mele home and then journal through words and pictures about the weekend's happenings. Here's a few photos of Leah and Mele...

Waiting in line to get gas...Mele says, "Never wait til the last minute to fill up your tank with gas. You never know what "emergency" situation may come up"...like a Tsunami!!! (It took one hour) :p

Mari had a special 2nd grade program on Friday, "Families Are Forever". It's a compilation of their unit on Family. This whole year up to now has focused on "Family"--while incorporating history, math, writing, music, art... Grandpa Nishiguchi and Mari marched together when they recognized all veterans and active duty. Too bad Daddy is in Thailand.

What a wonderful program it was! I was teary-eyed and choked up through the whole program! (surprise, surprise...) The children and teachers did a fabulous job!

Pacific Stampers Sale-A-Bration Stamp Camp

Hello! We had our very first Stamp Camp of 2010 this past Sunday...There were almost 90 guests and they enjoyed: 4 perfectly peachy projects, sensational samples, delectable door prizes, ravishing raffles, a stupendous silent auction, divine demonstrations, the sale of super retired stamps and awesome accessories as well as heavenly handmade items...

Oops, sorry, I got carried away! It's a good thing this computer doesn't have a microphone! YIKES! Anyway, that was Billy Joel's song from...ahem!..."a long time ago" for you young whippersnappers. He used to be married to Christie Brinkley..."Who?" "Nevermind!" Let's get on to the Big Shot projects I have to share with you!

This is a fabric flower I made a while back...the first photo is how it looks after putting it all together. The second photo is how it looks after it's been spritzed with water and tossed in the dryer for a few minutes. (What? Of course I don't run the dryer for just a flower or two! Do you think I would waste all that electricity for my craft project?! :p )

Here are some made from a Batik fabric.

I also had some fun making these...

Little mini canvas totes embellished with a sassy Build-A-Bear and Sweet Pea Felt accents. The Sweet Pea Felt accents are wonderful! They look like that right out of the package! :) Easy Peasy! There is so much to do with the Build-A-Bear line of Sizzix dies... I'll show you my composition book later if I still have one. Or I can make more, right? Here are the totes close up.

Standard size cards and envelopes fit perfectly in these totes. What a great gift for a teacher, co-worker, friend, mother, sister.... Anyone would love to receive some cute handmade cards in a cute decorated bag!

Ok, one more thing to share. This is a tag using our heart chipboard album pages individually.

I covered the chipboard with the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper--you can cover 2 hearts front and back with one sheet of paper! I love the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper stack. It is a great value and there is a wonderful variety of designs! I have made many projects, including Stamp Camp project packets for 130 and all of the chipboard hearts along with some others all with one stack and I still have a lot more!

Oh, then I used the scraps (Hey, no laughing!) to cover chipboard letters for the monogram. If I didn't already have the chipboard letters, I would have adhered the DSP to a piece of chipboard and die cut it with the Big Shot. I attached the letters with mini glue dots. Tied a piece of our Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon and voila! A very cute tag! I made the tags for my guests at Stamp Camp. I will share photos from Stamp Camp soon...it was a fun day for all and we made some great prujects! Thanks for stopping by! Please come back to visit and see what we made!

Who says "Chivalry is Gone"?

Actually the phrase is "Chivalry is dead" but that sounds so morbid... Anyway, I just want to thank heroes Calvin and Mike for helping the "Damsel in distress". (Do I qualify as a "damsel"?) Well, you get the picture. I got in the car to come to work this morning and "click, click, click" was all I got when I tried to start the car. And, would you believe, only three weeks ago DH-Kurt's car battery died....hmmm, that's kind of wierd to me. Normally we're off on Fridays, but since Kurt is going to Thailand next week for 2-1/2 weeks on a humanitarian mission with the Air Force Reserve...we're working today. I know, you're probably thinking, how "humanitarian" is it to go and pull teeth?! Believe me, the people they help are so appreciative... Meanwhile, I'll be here holding down the fort. The girls and I will be heading to Anaheim over spring break. The dance team will be participating in a competition. They have been practicing very hard since the beginning of this school year. Of course, there will be lots of time for Disneyland... :)

Anyway, Calvin came over lickedy split and jump started the car--I drove to see Mike at Kapahulu Auto Repair and he changed the battery just like that! Thank you so much! :)

More Simply Adorned...

Hello!

Here are photos of the Simply Adorned Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year charm insert that I promised. For those of you who may not know, this is the year of the tiger in the Chinese Zodiac Calendar.

I apologize for the quality of this photo...I just couldn't get a clear picture...

Anyway, the heart is from a cute favor box that Naoko made for us. It's hard to see, but the whole heart is so smooth and glossy! The tiger stripes are from a new stamp set that was given out at Leadership... It will be in next year's catalog and idea book. Here is the original favor box.

She is so creative! I assure you, no hearts were broken when I made my charm insert. I placed it so that it was offset and yet I didn't have to cut it! :)

This is the box all gussied up with a 5/8" circle charm inside. I found this idea from the Artistic Avenger, Carrie Gaskin. She is so talented! Why fuss with something that is already so awesome?!

Here's the inside:

On Carrie's box, she used die cut chipboard letters. I attached Cameo Coral card stock to the chipboard that comes with the Decor Elements with our anywhere gluestick and cut out my own letters. It was quick and easy!

As I mentioned in a pervious post, this Simply Adorned charm and box will be one of the items in our Silent Auction at our Pacific Stampers Stamp Camp this weekend. There will be a lot of other really beautiful handmade items too!

So purrty, huh? There are a lot of other stamp sets that can be used to create some beautiful inserts. Along with embellishments--It's ok to use brads--just remove the prongs, ribbon in flat knots, dimensionals... It's a whole other world creating inserts and like everything else, the sky's the limit! :)

I think I can really get into this...creating an insert for every outfit--yikes! Let's start with one for every occasion and go from there. I'll share my Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year insert later... For now, here is the insert I made for the swap I mentioned earlier. I had to send it to Pennsylvania and with the snowy weather they're having, let's hope the mail man can get them back to us soon... Something to look forward to! I'll share them when they arrive!

Thank Heaven for Little Girls!

And who knows better than the designer of Craft Project Central's project #3, Brenda! (Brenda is the mother of FOUR wonderful daughters!) This Little Girl Gable Box is so cute! I'll have to make some for my daughters, nieces, friends children... It is perfect for tucking a small gift inside... Which reminds me, Leah has a birthday party later this month... I'll have to hurry up and make this box and then go shopping for something that will fit in the box! How's that for a dedicated stamper/paper crafter?! :) Oh, here's the photo...

My friend Jacque shares with us this little purse for the second February project over at Craft Project Central. The purse opens and folds out to reveal compartments for little note cards and envelopes. I love the new Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die!! The little butterflies are so cute! Don't you love how she added bling to them too? They become even more pretty and happy!

Baskets and Blooms Simple Tutorial

Brrr...Good Morning! We're experiencing some "cold" weather here in Hawaii...Temperatures in the low to high 60's. Okay, okay, I know it's nothing compared to some folks on the mainland (which is what we islanders call the continental U.S.), but for us it's quite chilly! :) Our children actually had to use a blanket last night! hee, hee! I spent some time visiting Debbie Naylor's blog yesterday and wished I could be frolicking in the snow with her furry family members! That looked really cold! And oh so lovely! (Hi Debbie!)

I thought I'd post some very simple instructions on the Basket and Blooms Box that I posted on Stampin' Connection and here in an earlier post.

This is a photo of the project:

Cut the two basket pieces from Stampin' Up!'s Exclusive Basket & Blooms Bigz XL Die using your favorite Designer Series Paper(DSP). At the moment, mine happens to be the bling bling Sending Love DSP! I love this paper! Trim off the flaps from both pieces along the perforation.
To make the box. I used a 5-1/4" x 7" piece of Whisper White card stock. Scored at 2" from all edges using the Paper Cutter w/Scoring Blade. Cut along bold lines as shown in diagram.
Fold along score lines and crease well with bone folder. I like to have nice crisp corners on my boxes. Adhere with Sticky Strip.
Add Sticky Strip to "front" and "back" of box and attach basket sides.
Tie White Taffeta ribbon around. I tack it down with a littl SNAIL to keep it in place.
To make Blossom accent, punch 4 Scallop Circles of DSP using Scallop Circle punch. Scrunch them up giving them a distressed cup-like shape.
Use Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to make a hole in the center of all four layers. I used an Epoxy Brad to hold it all together. Final touch up to shape can be made after it's all put together. Attach to front with a Stampin' Dimensonal.

Okay, okay, no, Stampin' Up! is not manufacturing their own vans--Yet...Shelli? :) My super upline Naoko brought this Stampin' Up! Logo Decor Element back for me from Leadership. Thanks, Naoko! I love it! My DH helped me put it on...since it's hard to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig on the rear window! {smile}

Haitian Disaster Relief

Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have a long history of making a difference in the lives of others--especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted Stampin’ Up corporate office this past week asking what the plan is for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.

Hello Tote-ally Tess!

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend--and even more if it happens to be a long weekend! :) An extra day to spend doing what you love!

This is a card I made for a Leadership swap a few months ago... Don't you just love Tess?! It's was so funny because when were at Leadership on the bus going to Kanab, Shelli was asking everyone to give her suggestions on what kinds of stamp sets/products we wanted. Some suggested a revamped "Stella Stamper". For those of you who have been around a while, you know who I'm talking about, for you 'young uns', Stella Stamper was actually a little scary looking, but she had some great accessories! A stamp, stamp pad, roller wheel, some cute phrases...

Stella Stamper retired quite some time ago. Anyway, Shelli was very good at acting like this was a great idea. She asked in what style we would like this proposed stamper to be and what types of accessory stamps might be included. Then voila! Here comes Tote-ally Tess--modern, stylish and with all the necessities every stamper needs--laptop and My Digital Studio not included (yet). I know Shelli is good, but to go from idea to stamp set in a couple of days, boy-oh-boy...that is definitely awesome!

This is the stamp set I chose at our Founder's Circle farewell dinner. We were all able to chose any stamp set we wanted from the (at that time upcoming) mini catalog. Sworn to secrecy and banned from taking photos--it was hard to contain our excitement!

So here she is...drum roll please...Tote-ally Tess! I know, not so exciting since by now you've probably already seen her in the Occasions Mini catalog... (And if you haven't, click on the link in by side bar, you'll find oodles of fun, new things!)

The how...

I stamped the image on Whisper White card stock with black Staz-On. I stamped her blouse on Pumpkin Pie card stock, her tote on Pink Passion card stock, her pants on designer series paper from the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit and the accessories on scrap pieces of card stock... Ok, now the crazy part... I cut out all the pieces and "pieced" them together... Thank goodness for our super paper snips that allow for very detailed cutting! Uh not something I'd like to do for a huge swap, but it was fun and I got some great swaps back! Somehow I ended up not keeping one for myself and did not get my card back with the rest, so I have to thank Kristyne Brandt for posting this on her website! Thanks Kristyne!

I had a fun time Friday night with some ladies in Pacific Stampers and today with some of the Rainbow Stampers--how can it not be anything short of fun when you're stamping?! :) (Missed you ladies who weren't there...)

Peel off adhesive cover and adhere Heart Treat Cup to a second square of Whisper White card stock to seal the cup.
Punch scallops from Real Red textured card stock with Scallop Edge punch. Adhere scallops to back of Whisper White square.
Adhere Whisper White square to card.

Hello!

Just a short post today to share another swap card...This one comes from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I used a set called Love Bandit (117086, or 118577-clear mount stamps!!!)

I just love this little guy!...I apologize for the blurry close up... Couldn't seem to quite get it... For this card I got to play with several of my new toys: the beautiful Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper with glittery designs built right in!!! (bling bling!), the Pnking Hearts Border Punch, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die... There are so many yummy things in the new minis...I can't wait to share them with you!

Ooo, Ooo...Today's a special day, we'll be spending the morning with Leah, Mari and some friends at the Ice Palace. Then Kurt and I will be having our last Date Night for 2009 ...Dinner (at Morton's) and a Movie (Blind Side). I'm really looking forward to it! :)

Hello!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas Holiday! I enjoyed spending time with my family! It's not often we have time to sit, relax and play games... The children received a number of games this year and we have been playing all of them...over and over.... :) Some are classic like Twister, and some are "new and improved" like Pictionary Man... Either way, it's great quality family time!

My Digital Studio Christmas Card

Seasons Greetings!

I am so excited to share our Christmas card for 2009. I created it using "My Digital Studio". It was so quick and easy! I did make a little boo boo in making it 6 x 6", but I really liked these proportions and didn't want to change it... Now I have to hunt for envelopes it will fit in and pay a little extra postage to mail them out. (uh-oh...) Hee, hee, what we do for the love of stamping/scrapping! :p

Oh my! They look so grown up! This is their Dance Team photo.

I made some of these cute Peppermint Patty sets after seeing it here. They are cute and simple to make. I was also thinking about all the different possibilities--this idea can be adapted to any occasion!

Soft and Merry

This card was one of the prototypes for my Christmas Stamp-A Stack. The gals made 5 each of 3different cards. I ended up designing all the cards around the Sleigh Bells ribbon. See this post for Stamp-A-Stack cards: http://sunnystampinsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/11/christmas-is-in-air.html

My inspiration for this card was a Christmas present. Using Whisper White card stock for the base and Soft Suede card stock for the top layer and the accent, I used the Merry Embosslit (116820) to make the "gift tag". I just love embosslits! Cut and emboss in one step! Lickidee-split! Just like that! :) The snowflake on the tag is from Best Wishes & More (111602) and is "inked up" with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (116806) using a Sponge dauber (102892). Isn't it purtee? I random stamped the top layer with the same snowflake in Versamark (102283) and tied some White Organza Ribbon (114319) around to give it the "present" look. Then I added the tag with some Gold Elastic cord (109867).
